What is Olympic Day?  USA BMX has joined forces with the UNITED STATES OLYMPIC COMMITTEE and USA Cycling, to offer you and your friends a FREE day of BMX racing at participating BMX tracks.

Olympic Day is a worldwide commemoration of Baron Pierre de Coubertin’s June 23, 1894, convening of the first International Olympic Committee (IOC) meeting at the Sorbonne in Paris, and the founding of the Modern Olympic Games. National Olympic Committees (NOCs) throughout the world will also participate in the international celebration, with each Olympic Committee sending Olympic Day greetings to participating nations. The goal of Olympic Day is to promote the Olympic values and participation in sport across the globe regardless of age, gender or athletic ability.

In other words, Olympic Day is a day where any rider (new or experienced) can try the Olympic Sport of BMX Racing at a participating track for free.  That's right, FREE!.  Even if you raced years ago and want to give it another try.  Maybe a friend wants to try it out for the first time and hasn't made it out to our weekly Saturday night races, this would be a great opportunity to try racing at Hampton BMX.  Or maybe a buddy of yours says he's faster than you are around the track, invite them out so they can see what it takes to get around the track...  No matter what your situation is, it's a free race for licensed and unlicensed riders alike.

Invite your friend across the street, the kid playing ball at the hoop at the end of the court, or the kid manualing down your street for miles.  We have lots of loaner helmets and a few loaner bikes (1st come 1st serve, so bring yours if you have one).  There are just a few safety requirements that must be met in order to participate. You will need to bring long pants, a long sleeve shirt, and shoes (no sandals or flip flops).  Also, if you're under 18 you will need to have your parents with you in order to sign the waiver.

We hope to see you at Hampton BMX this Sunday June 29th! Registration is from 12-1:30PM, Racing ASAP!
