Camp Woodward Announces NEW Summer Schedule

(Woodward, PA – May 18) Camp Woodward in Pennsylvania is delayed in opening, and camp will start week five this year. Earlier this year, USA BMX and Woodward announced an extended partnership for 2020 which featured Woodward as our Official Camp Sponsor and included a dedicated BMX Racing program with 12 sessions from June to August. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Woodward BMX Racing Program will now begin July 5 and feature eight (8) exciting weeks of dedicated BMX coaching through August. Additionally, the Gold Cup Qualifier at Woodward PA will be rescheduled to a later date in 2021.

The Woodward BMX Racing Program will offer professional BMX coaches and VIPs to teach campers everything from bike and gear set-up, to gate starts, sprints, turns, and jumps on a world-class track built last spring.

Confirmed BMX pros for week five through 11 are:

• WEEK 5 - July 5 to July 11: Anthony Bucardo

• WEEK 6 - July 12 to July 18: Nic Long

• WEEK 7 - July 19 to July 25: Rachel Jones and Brooke Crain

• WEEK 11 - August 16 to August 22: Carly Kane

BMX Racing campers will also have access to ride on Woodward’s dirt jumps, foam box jumps, and Resi-landing jumps. This expanded racing program builds upon Woodward’s rich racing history dating back to the 1980’s.

"USA BMX is excited to see Woodward open for business with a modified summer schedule,” said USA BMX CEO, BA Anderson. “I know our members are looking for every opportunity to get back to the track, and the expanded BMX racing program at Woodward in 2020 offers our members a chance to get back to riding and training at a historic BMX venue."

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Woodward continues to carefully monitor COVID-19 health and regulatory guidelines, including Centre County health department, State of Pennsylvania health department and the American Camp Association, who is communicating with the CDC. Woodward will also be monitoring Governor Wolf’s Process to Reopen Pennsylvania.Along these lines, Woodward PA is working with local health officials to ensure the safety of campers, staff and community, including taking actions that promote health, ensure the cleanliness of all camp facilities, and enable social distancing.

Woodward will continue to monitor government policy changes and follow all health and regulatory recommendations to update its safety protocols and procedures as necessary or appropriate.
