USA BMX and USA Cycling Announce Format Change for Nashville
USA BMX National Points all Three Days
 
April 2, 2013 – Gilbert, AZ: USA BMX and USA Cycling have teamed up since 2008 for the USA Cycling BMX National Championships.  This year, the championship will be held in Nashville, Tennessee at Music City BMX.  Since 2008 this stand-alone event has been the only qualification process for riders to qualify for the World Championships.

The format for this race has always been a USA BMX National on Friday and Sunday with the USA Cycling race on Saturday.  For 2013 the two organizations are announcing that the Music City Nationals will be a three-day USA BMX National ran in addition to the USA Cycling BMX National Championships.  Friday and Sunday will follow the normal USA BMX National format and Saturday will be a modified schedule.
The format for the USA Cycling BMX National Championships will remain the same and will follow all USA Cycling and UCI rules.  In lieu of being run as a stand-alone race, it will be inserted into the beginning of the program in place of the normal USA BMX open classes.
Awards for USA Cycling race will be given to the podium winners. Racers will have the opportunity to register for this race and still race their normal class and gain national points. USA Cycling will also be awarding podium makers in normal USA BMX classes with a special medallion for participating.

* The USA Cycling race is not required to participate in USA BMX's Music City National and riders only wishing to participate in the USA Cycling National Championships may also do so.

We hope that by providing this opportunity it exposes more riders to the USA Cycling National Championship and brings even more riders to Nashville.”
