I started racing the summer of 1976 in Utah before any sanctioning body was in the state. The Sandy City Police Department ran those races at the time. I raced a few years after the ABA came to Utah but finances and parental priorities changed and I stopped.

In 1996 a co-worked told me about a track that was near my house at the time (Rad Canyon BMX) so I went to watch some races and discovered that old guys could race. So, I bought myself a Kastan Cruiser and then a Kastan 20" in 1997 and I started racing again. I broke my collar bone racing, moved to Texas the first time and started having kids, was working hard building my career as a Chemical Engineer so BMX racing got put on hold.

My 3 boys got interested in BMX in August of 2013, so I came back to the sport. It was short lived because my company requested that we move to Japan for a couple of years the summer of 2014. We raced during the summer when we came back to visit the United States, but we were limited in our racing. We returned the summer of 2016 and we got back to racing BMX regularly again. My boys and I designed our own jerseys which were influenced by our time in Japan and formed our own family "team", Flying Dragon Racing. We also upgraded our bikes and maximized our time at the track.

Now all my boys have grown-up and are involved in school and building their own careers so I am the last member of our Flying Dragon Racing team that is still actively racing. My goal is to keep racing at least until I am in my 80s.
