Like many parents, I came to the track to watch my kid ride and help him out on his little balance bike. Unlike many parents, I tried it. I figured I can't help him on pedals unless I knew what it was like. My first practice, I wrecked hard. And I came back four days later. This is my life now. They say you shouldn't live to work, but work to live. I work to ride. I have met some of the most amazing people in this community and when I get discouraged, they are all supportive, encouraging, and positive people. Some of my best friends have come from this sport and I've only been riding since 11/2019 and racing since 1/2020. Like a lot of riders, 2020 was a wash for me. Very little riding and very little training. I came back in 2021 full-force. These days, under Kevin Lackey, I co-manage Skillz Wheelz BMX racing team for the South East region with Forrest Barley. We have grown the team from 12 riders to ~30 riders and continue to recruit.
