As a racer, I have been racing Cruiser class since the age of 46. I started racing because I felt I was missing out on the fun while watching my oldest daughter tear it up on the track. All my kids have raced with me as time has passed. I continue to race in Cruiser class at my local track Richfield Park BMX while also competing on the National Level. I always do my best and try to put a fun face on the experience rather than be demoralized when I don't do well. However, I do have a fire in my belly to win. So, no matter which track or event I am at, when the gate drops I am giving it all I got. On the backside, I am a Skilled Trades Millwright that works for General Motors at the Lansing Grand River Body Shop helping keep the line running that makes Camaro's and Cadillacs. I have three beautiful daughters, an old boxer dog named Angus that hangs out with me at the local bmx track. I am the Track Operator at Richfield Park BMX and make the most out what income we can generate through the local races. Sometimes we improvise and things still seem to work out for the best. To finish, I would simply say, If you have the time and are close please stop out to Richfield Park BMX and get your bikes and racing mojo on the track. We are always working to make it stand out and be a National Caliber race track.

In August of 2014 at a Vintage Bike Show at Waterford Oaks BMX, that his father took him to, Lukas, was introduced to BMX. On a WalMart bike, track helmet and pads, he almost instantly feel in love with the sport. In May of 2015 he won his first local race as a 5 year old. Also in that month he broke his arm while falling down a few stairs. Lukas turned 6 in June of 2015 and was back on the track in July. In September he broke his other arm while falling off a playground structure at a neighbors house. He finished 2015 season with 5 wins in novice class. 2016 started off with a 1st place finish at the first State race of the year. Four local wins followed quickly after that state race 1st place finish. In the same week in June of 2016, Lukas turned 7 and became an intermediate rider. The struggle to make mains at State races was difficult to endure. More practice and learning to use clipless pedals throughout that summer started to show him some rewards. At the State series final in August, he finished 3rd and was awarded the #7 State Plate for his class. Unlike the previous year, he continued to race throughout the fall and traveled out of the state for the first time and raced cruiser class for the first time. The 2017 season started off with racing almost every weekend at Rock City Indoor. Cruiser class was a struggle but he continued to progress well on his class bike. The first state race was in March. Unlike in previous State races, Lukas made his main but was unable to get comfortable in a full gate. An 8th place finish was not what he was looking for. More practice and work in gate seemed to be the answer. Mains made in the next two state races with 3rd place finishes are more acceptable to him. Finished off the 2017 State Series with the #3 Plate in 8 intermediate and #2 Plate in 8 cruiser. Honored to be racing for team #OFFRacing . Lukas turned expert in October of 2017! He finished the 2017 season with district #26 in class and district #8 in cruiser.
